Biggs Street Road Improvement to Begin

It is exciting to see progress on the new Samaritan Treatment and Recovery Services facility. As part of this important project, road work will take place on NW Biggs Street beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3, with anticipated completion by Monday, Nov. 4.

One section of the road work involves extending Biggs Street between 59th and 60th. This is being accomplished through cost-sharing between the city of Newport and Samaritan Health Services. The other section of road work involves improving the existing Biggs Street between 58th and 59th, with Samaritan solely responsible for the cost.

Once completed, traffic on NW Biggs Street can flow north and south between 56th and 60th. Four stop signs will be placed along the street as a traffic calming measure.

During the road work, NW Biggs Street will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic between 58th and 60th. Access to homes and driveways in the neighborhood will not be impacted.
